Dynamotion is the first of three works for drum set and percussion ensemble that I composed as part of my sabbatical project for the fall of 2019 at Campbellsville University. The title pays homage to the "Dynamo Room", a percussion practice room at Belmont University tucked away on the corner of campus. I spent many hours in this room practicing drum set, keyboard percussion, and just about everything else for my private studies with Todd London as part of my masters degree. The Belmont University Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Chris Norton, premiered the work in the fall of 2019.

Although the drum set feature during the middle part of the work is notated in the sheet music, the soloist may choose to create/improvise their own part, allowing a more accessible or more challenging solo depending on the performer's ability level. The percussion quintet is comprised of 2 vibes and 3 marimbas (two 4.3-octave, one 5-octave).
